Quick Launch - Modern experience

Hi Team,

 

We have a publishing site on which we have configured structural navigation at "_layouts/15/AreaNavigationSettings.aspx".

This navigation is respected on the publishing pages and the classic view libraries however when I open the Modern library experience the quick launch settings are not respected.

 

Is this an expected behaviour? From where is the configuration for the Modern experience quick launch coming? What do I have to do to make the configuration consistent across both.

    from other related threads, I see that top navigation can be configured from _layouts/15/topnav.aspx and quick launch from _layouts/15/quiklnch.aspx

     

    While I can access them by directly setting up the url, Im unable to see a link to enter this page from the UI, in settings.aspx I dont seem to be able to find this link.

    Is this expected? and why do we have these 2 places to configure links tin addition to AreaNavigation.aspx as well.
