If it is a delay, it's a long one! I haven't looked at the web version of word.
Do you know how and where the data is stored? If it is stored in the meta of the file itself, I can't see how a delay would affect only that, and not the entire file.
A couple of times I have opened a document and not touched it to see if it appears, and it doesn't.

Yes, obviously, is a long delay, but in my experience resume reading is affected with many factors, OS, Office version and updates, and so on sometimes works fine and sometime doesn't.
My question is to separate and identify the problem's source, so if in your ipad and web version the problem didn't replicate, so i'd recomend to you focus your attention in the local version of Office.
It's an opinion.
Regards.

- CC HoganMar 15, 2021Brass ContributorI and others have had this problem for several years. Repair and reinstall has never solved it. I even have it on a new laptop with a fresh installation. It is definitely a bug, but one that has been ignored, I think.
