Outlook Apps only check emails when open (iOS and Android)

Hello:

We have been recommending the much improved Outlook app for both iOS and Android for our users. One quick we have noticed on some devices (both iOS and Android) is that is will only check email when the app is open. It is likely a setting on the device itself, but wanted to see if there are specifications or settings we should be enabling on both flavors of device.
