I am experiencing the exact same issue after updating Place information on several meeting rooms.
There is no issue when searching for Attendees in Global Address List (GAL), but when searching in "Location" I get duplicate meeting rooms, where one of the objects is "dead" and referencing to an older "version" of the object/meeting room.
I had the same issue (running hybrid). The affected room mailboxes were migrated to EOL but the objects were left in AD onprem. Deleting the onprem objects and recreating the rooms in EOL solved the issue.
I really don't want to delete the objects and recreate them. I would also need to migrate the history before deleting them.
It's not totally out of the question as I have a migration tool ready, but I would prefer not to...
