Office 365 tenant location

Hi

 

I work for a company in the Cayman Islands and we have our Office 365 data currently stored in the US. We would like to move this to the UK so that we are covered by GDPR. I am aware that we can do a tenant to tenant migration but would we be able to register for a UK tenant without having a registered office there?

    You'll have to talk to Microsoft to see if they will allow you to move tenants between datacenter regions (US to UK). If not, you can create a new tenant in the UK and move data from the old to the new tenant. This is quite an undertaking and requires detailed planning, but there is support from ISVs to help with tenant to tenant migration tools (like Quest and BitTitan).

        I'd talk to Microsoft about this as I suspect their terms of business differ from country to country.
