Office 365 Mail Migration - Issues with mailbox size quotas

Currently attempting to migrate from our on premise exchange mail server a user with a mailbox about 2.03 GB big. This user would be under a Microsoft 365 E3 license so to my understanding the size of the mail inbox shouldn't be an issue.

Nonetheless when attempting to run the migration the following error keeps showing up:

Mailbox size 2.03 GB (2,180,063,936 bytes) exceeds target quota 2 GB (2,147,483,648 bytes). --> Mailbox size 2.03 GB (2,180,063,936 bytes) exceeds target quota 2 GB (2,147,483,648 bytes).

I have tried changing the Mailbox size quotas and remaking the batch and have gotten the same result. Is there any detail or configuration I might have overlooked that perhaps someone is familiar with?

  • You need to change the quotas in the mailbox plan (Get-MailboxPlan, Set-MailboxPlan). 2GB is the default for the Kiosk/Frontline plan, do you only have Kiosk licenses?
