O365 apps crash when opening file from sharepoint. mso20win32client.dll related?
Having an issue where every time I try to open an office file from a sharepoint site, the program crashes with no error details. Looking in Windows Event Viewer, I see something like this: Fault...
My Outlook Classic suddenly stopped working a few days ago after a Windows Update. Suddenly it wouldn't start, and in the event log there was an error including the same as yours
AppPath C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE
ModulePath C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office16\mso20win32client.dll
I tried all sorts of things, as suggested by various postings including the suggestions here. None of them worked.
This morning I decided to try to figure out if a registry setting was causing the issue. I narrowed it down to this one:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General\NewOutlookAutoMigrationType
When I deleted this key, Outlook started up again.
