It's just slow

Does anyone else experience real slowness in Office 365 or is it just us? Very rarely do we experience a good speed - there are real moans in the office. It's not just in the office but externally as well, so I don't believe it to be a slow connectivity issue from our end. Whenever i get a moan i check other sites to see if our connectivity is slow, but all seems OK. Any pointers from anyone on how to resolve this?

Ty all for your replies (I love this community, everyone is friendly and helpful).  Answering some questions: -

    Network infracture

According to our network side, there is nothing special - no outbound proxy getting in the way.

    Where are we

    Region is Europe

    Navigation

Yes we are using structered NAV, in two site collections.  Yes, one does have alot of sites and it is expected that when on the home page, it will take a while to load the navigation.  In our other site collection we only have 5 sub-sites, minimal navigation - and this is slow as well.

This week things have speed up, which is a good thing. Maybe MS were deploying updates that were slowing us down.  I will keep montoring it and see if speed stabilises.

Replace your nav with Managed Nav. One of my customers moved from 50 seconds down to 4 seconds

  • Hi Tanya,

What geographic region are you in?

Also, any clues on your network infrastructure? Are you behind a proxy?

    Thanks

You may want to talk to your network infrastructure folks. We also identified a slowness and identified where the problem was (in the network infrastructure). We noticed that if we loaded the same site or did the same activity outside our network it was a faster experience.

Hi, can you go into specifics, as I've noticed the same on our end.

For us its using plain old lists and libraries. I am sat here now working through a document library (no more than about 20 folders with about 100 docs), entering metadata and changing content types and it is really slowwwww
