Ty all for your replies (I love this community, everyone is friendly and helpful). Answering some questions: -
Network infracture
According to our network side, there is nothing special - no outbound proxy getting in the way.
Where are we
Region is Europe
Navigation
Yes we are using structered NAV, in two site collections. Yes, one does have alot of sites and it is expected that when on the home page, it will take a while to load the navigation. In our other site collection we only have 5 sub-sites, minimal navigation - and this is slow as well.
This week things have speed up, which is a good thing. Maybe MS were deploying updates that were slowing us down. I will keep montoring it and see if speed stabilises.
Replace your nav with Managed Nav. One of my customers moved from 50 seconds down to 4 seconds
- Daniel KharmanBrass ContributorHi Tanya,
What geographic region are you in?
Also, any clues on your network infrastructure? Are you behind a proxy?
Thanks
Daniel Hi Tanya Denton,
I might have bumped into a solution for you!

Are you using Structured navigation?
I managed to move form 33 seconds down to 4 seconds in one case.

You may want to talk to your network infrastructure folks. We also identified a slowness and identified where the problem was (in the network infrastructure). We noticed that if we loaded the same site or did the same activity outside our network it was a faster experience.

Hi, can you go into specifics, as I've noticed the same on our end.
- Funny I reported the same earlier today:
I have found page loads to be 1-2 seconds and then an additional 0.5 seconds for each web part. At least for traditional pages.Microsoft told me that that is acceptable

I am sat here now working through a document library (no more than about 20 folders with about 100 docs), entering metadata and changing content types and it is really slowwwww
- Ken NueblerCopper ContributorSame with us as well especially in the last week.
