Help: MS Word 365 document does not respond to footnote formatting procedure.
I have followed the steps as outlined in this MS video exactly, yet it has no effect on my document's footnote numbers. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/video-change-footnote-font-size-and-formatting-1368deda-70b6-44a7-82d6-8df4dc52e04e The document has nearly 200 pages with many footnotes. The footnote number font size was fine... and then for some reason they all changed when I was trying to format a bulleted list (had nothing to do with footnotes) and I am unable to get them back to the previous size or to change them at all.

Maybe the footnote reference has lost its superscript formatting? To fix that, add superscript back to the Footnote Reference style.
If necessary, you can also use Find & Replace to (re-)apply the Footnote Reference style to all footnote markers. Use ^f in the "Find what" box and specify Footnote Reference as the style to use in the "Replace with" box. Run a Replace All.
