Exchange Message Trace Different Results from Top Sender and Recipients Report

Hello All,

 

I am trying to get a report of the total number of emails sent to and from a certain user in my organization. 

 

When I run a message trace in the EAC, I get that a user sent about 1633 emails from 4/01-5/01, and Received about 1263 emails over the same time-frame. However if I run a Top Senders and Receivers Report from the O365 Security & Compliance Reports Tab, for the same user in the same time-frame. IT gives me they Sent 1127  and Received 78 emails. 

Why are the reports, that report the same information, giving me different results? What doesn't the O365 Security & Compliance report account for that message trace does? 

I'd rather run the report over a trace because I can schedule it and it runs faster, but if its giving me the wrong information I don't want to.
