I have Office365 business and I've just been informed by one of our customer that in Nov 2018 they got a email from us providing them with details of a new bank account that was to used for payment. ...
You may not be able to do a trace route, but you should be able to find the e-mail in security and compliance search for the user that sent it mailbox. If it's there it's most likely a phishing scheme that your user was compromised and they used the account via webmail to send out targeted messages. Seen it before.
