Does Word count the number of characters of math expressions (integral, norm.)?

I need to count all characters (with no spaces) in the text that contains math expressions such as characters of integral, summation, norm, absolute value and etc. in the Microsoft Word Office document. I see that Microsoft Word Office (no matter which version) cannot count mathematical symbols. How should I do this? If Microsoft Word Office (no matter which version) cannot count the number of characters of mathematical expressions, please let us know.
