Does OneDrive for personal account work yet?
I have been using Dropbox to sync my Word and Excel files. The reason so is because Dropbox allows me to choose what files I want uploaded where I can create custom folders to store them in.
The last time I activated OneDrive, it began to upload ALL my files from my computer, including big video files. When I aborted the upload, all the files being uploaded were lost. Luckley I had them backed up on a local drive, but to suffice to say that I am hestitant to use Onedrive again.
Has Microsoft finally updated Onedrive to allow users to determine what files they want uploaded and where? Will mt files be safe from being lost? If not, I am thinking of moving to Google or Zoho platforms becauseI have doubts that Microsoft understands how cloud storage actually works for non enterprise platforms.
Thoughts please.

it might be the abort that caused the data losing, however, using Microsoft to storage your data is not a fully safe way.Once your data lost,it's not irreversible.my suggestion is to add an extra protect layer if you still wanna back up your data via Google Workspace or Microsoft, which means use a 3rd party backup software.
Here are some of the selections:
Veeam, CubeBackup, or Synology active backup.
- Synology backup requires NAS hardware, the backup app is free.
- Veeam is a powerful backup tool, which supports both on-premise storage and cloud storage, but its UI is complicated.
- CubeBackup has similar features to Veeam, both on-premise and cloud storage are supported, with more straightforward UI and affordable pricing. Also,CubeBackup supports to back up both GW and M365

You do have an option in OneDrive to choose what folders to sync. That the files are just lost in a sync sounds like a strange issue that I have never encountered anywhere. It must have been the abort that caused an issue.
In OneDrive, under settings, you can choose what folders to backup. I have as an exampled disabled my Videos folder as I manage that in another way and have more data in that folder than I have available space for in my OneDrive account.

FYI, you must be using a different version of OneDrive that I am. I have the 365 Family Plan which does not support syncing or choosing folders for backup.

Thanks for the info. I decided to end my 365 subscripion and go to Google Workspace. MS 365 platform is a bunch of ad hoc patches built on 1990's tech making for an unreliable clould platform. I may return to MS if and when they figure out how to build a modern cloud experience.
