Desktop Click (lower right taskbar) pointing to wrong desktop

I have 2 accounts on my laptop. Have enabled "Select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop" but it goes to the wrong account. I am signed in under the correct account, one drive syncs to the correct account, all the apps are signed in to the correct account, the correct account is in settings. But the desktop that shows and that taskbar icon in the right corner goes to the wrong desktop and I cannot figure out how to change it. 

 

Current desktop:
C:\Users\user\OneDrive – MSFT
This is the default desktop on my laptop. It’s the wrong account.

The correct account is :
"C:\Users\user\OneDrive" (personal)

 

How do I switch from the first account to the second one – for the desktop to be correct?

PS - I have wasted 4 hours already with 3 different MS departments who think live chat is the answer - and they each keep trying to pass me off to the next one. It's like they get a bonus for doing nothing, knowing nothing, keeping me on live chat for hours, only to tell me it's my job to contact the next department and start over. Nice job, MS.

    Please try to fix by the following:

     

    1. Check Folder Redirection

    Windows may have redirected your Desktop to the wrong OneDrive folder. Here's how to fix that:

    1. Right-click on your Desktop folder in File Explorer (under This PC).
    2. Select Properties → go to the Location tab.
    3. If it says C:\Users\user\OneDrive – MSFT\Desktop, click Restore Default or manually change it to:
    4. C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Desktop
    5. Click Apply → Yes to move files if prompted.
    1. Unlink the Wrong OneDrive Account

    If the MSFT account is still active in OneDrive, it may override your personal settings.

    1. Open OneDrive Settings (click the cloud icon in the taskbar).
    2. Go to the Account tab.
    3. If you see both accounts listed, click Unlink this PC for the MSFT account.
    4. Restart your computer.
    1. Set the Correct OneDrive as Default

    After unlinking the wrong account:

    1. Sign in to your personal OneDrive only.
    2. Make sure it's syncing to C:\Users\user\OneDrive.
    3. Confirm that your Desktop folder is inside this directory.
    1. Re-enable “Show Desktop”

    Once the correct Desktop folder is active:

    • Go to Settings → Personalization → Taskbar
    • Ensure “Select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop” is enabled.

    Now when you click the far corner, it should show the correct desktop.
