The Skype button is not immediately available when you create users in Office 365, it takes some time until it's displayed
I figured out that the button was available from the very beginning (after creating a new user) until I changed its email address from user.name@domain.onmicrosoft.com to user.name@domain.com (our custom domain). Of course that domain has been validated by the integrated DNS checker before. After I reverted this change the button became available again.
Why is that?
Make sure the UPN, Primary SMTP address and the SIP address all use the same domain, as a best practice.
What does the abbreviation UPN stand for?
Sorry, UserPrincipalName, the attribute you use to login to the service.
