Changes lost Excel / O365 / Sharepoint Online
We're you co-authoring in the Excel doc concurrently, while someone else accessed the doc? Were you all using Excel in the web browser? A recent update to Office Pro Plus means you should be able to co-without concurrently, using Excel for desktop. The new version also switches to Auto-save sometimes, depending on where the saved document is stored. I would have expected you to find many versions of the document while you edited it with others.

I asumed at least one person viewed / edited (apparently) edited the document. I was presenting the document and we discussed all the changes. In between I saved every now and then with Control-S. This version is not found in the version history. Maybe the temp file lost its connection to sharepoint or something like that. Another (Mac) user reported a similar problem.
I still hope to find a temp file with the changes.
It seems to me it's not reliable when you choose "Edit in Excel" (not online).
Everyone was using the web browser (as they all were external users).
The version we used: see attached.

We have the same issue. a single very important user worked on a word document by 'Editing in Word' and saved the changes multiple times. We have "forced check-out" on our library. During the multiple saves user confirmed in SharePoint library that it was showing that the saving did result in reflecting new time stamp etc while it is still checked out. The user then "X"ed out from MS-Word and it asked for regular messages to save the changes before closing and check-in. But after check-in the document version was back to where the user started working on and lost hours of work. We checked every where, 'in recent documents', 'download' folder etc, but we could not find our updates.
