Change Password Insanity
I go through this every 90 days.
Office 365 insists I change my password.
I change it using o365 admin.
Outlook prompts me over and over and over and over and over for the new password.
In frustration I try to login to the Office 365 portal. It tells me the password is incorrect.
I go throguh the two step recover my password procedure. When I try to set the new password to the one I just set it says "You can't use that password, you've used it before"
I give it a new one.
I am back to square one.
After two hours of frustration it finally works.
Usually this happens when I really need to get email. Like now.
Is it just me? Last time I ended up re-creating my outlook profile to get mail again.

Hi Alan, on the prompt to login new password even though you have already changed it, this happens when the cache Outlook credentials is then failing or still not updating/syncing to the new password created. There are several ways to resolve it like checking Credential Manager, clearing Credential/Password Vault, etc. and may differ from one to another as this issue exists for years now.

When we get the repeating prompt for credentials in Outlook desktop, we find that deleting the user's credentials in Credential Manager often gets them past that dialog.

Thanks, I have tried that approach too.
The only thing that seems to work reliably is deleting and re-creating the whole Outlook profile which is a huge pain when you have 8 or 9 email accounts.
- Brent EllisSilver ContributorI frequently see this behavior if I have synced something from SharePoint to Outlook (like a calendar). Usually removing the calendar and re-adding allows the frequent prompts to stop.
That being said, I have also seen this occur with no explanation whatsoever, and have no better support answer than "give it some time it will go away on its own" :(
