rouckovam I had similar issues with staff here and overseas. The quickest way i found was to remove the account from the authenticator, then go to entra admin centre/all users/user/authentication methods and require re-register authentication method. It will then get you to set up again and it syncs properly again! I hope this helps.

Amin_Velji Thank you very much for a reply, unfortunately I am not able to sign into Entra Admin, because it also requires 2nd factor auth via the Authenticator. We might have screwed things up in the past by using the same account for Office 365 itself as well as for the Mictosoft administration and not using a separate ones.
There is also a small chance, that MFA was setup on an old phone, that's already gone. I am really not sure at this point.

rouckovam Are you not able to get in touch with the O365 admin to reset everything? if you dont have one (you may have purchased it directly) then you may need to get intouch with microsoft support. Im not sure what else to suggest.

MS support page seems to me more like e learning, than support and in case of technical support I found link to this community support page.
