Augloop Office Endpoint

We have noticed HTTP GET Requests to the augloop.office.com endpoint. I would like to know for what this endpoint is used for and what data is send to this endpoint? In general there is no specific information about this specific endpoint to be found in the internet. Any feedback is welcome.

  • Hello CurlX2305,

*.office.com is a required family of accessible endpoints for Microsoft 365 Apps. This is documented here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/urls-and-ip-address-ranges?view=o365-worldwide . This is the official list of accessible endpoints necessary for the full functionality of Microsoft 365 and is updated when the necessary endpoints change. If any of these are not accessible from your workstations on your network, then users can be blocked from associated Microsoft 365 functionality.

You are seeing the augloop endpoint being hit because you or your organization is using cloud powered features - connected experiences - in Microsoft 365 Apps. You can read about these features here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/privacy/connected-experiences. Augloop endpoint is involved when connected experiences are configured to be available to your users and when each cloud powered feature is used. It is a key endpoint for these features to communicate with Microsoft's automation.

    Hello,

The entirety of your Word and Powerpoint documents, no matter if they are locally saved or on the o365 cloud, is being sent to Microsoft.

Often correct Mairusu (the specifics vary by cloud powered feature). It is not possible to use cloud powered features, without sending your content to the cloud for processing. This is why administrators have the option to turn off those features if they do not want to do that. Some people want to use the cloud for its helpful outcomes, some people do not want to, or cannot for regulatory or policy reasons. No content comes from the application to Microsoft if cloud powered features, aka "Connected Experiences", are not used.
