The entirety of your Word and Powerpoint documents, no matter if they are locally saved or on the o365 cloud, is being sent to Microsoft.

MicrosoftOften correct Mairusu (the specifics vary by cloud powered feature). It is not possible to use cloud powered features, without sending your content to the cloud for processing. This is why administrators have the option to turn off those features if they do not want to do that. Some people want to use the cloud for its helpful outcomes, some people do not want to, or cannot for regulatory or policy reasons. No content comes from the application to Microsoft if cloud powered features, aka "Connected Experiences", are not used.
