365 Download to update previous 2019

I previously had office 2019 on the PC and registered for 365 on subscription. The splash screens still say that I am using version 2019.

I assume this is incorrect and either, I am still using 2019 or a mixture of both. I tried to uninstall 2019, unsure if it deleted completely form are areas and registry.

I would appreciate some help and clarity in this matter

TIA RoyP

  • Would suggest to follow on below;

    • Check Your Installed Version:
      • Open any Office app (e.g., Word or Excel).
      • Go to File > Account and look under the "Product Information" section. This will show the version and subscription details.
    • Uninstall Office 2019 Completely:
      • Use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) tool to ensure a clean uninstall of Office 2019. This tool can remove all traces of the previous installation, including registry entries.
    • Reinstall Microsoft 365:
      • Log in to your Microsoft 365 account at office.com and download the latest version of Office.
      • Install it on your PC, and it should automatically update to the Microsoft 365 branding and features.
    • Verify Updates:
      • After installation, ensure your Office apps are up to date. Open any Office app, go to File > Account > Office Updates, and select Update Now.
