Can you provide some more detail, are you syncing from on-premises and where do you see the character displayed like that? Generally speaking, it should be allowed in DisplayName as detailed here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/prepare-for-directory-synchronization?view=o365-worldwide#2-directory-object-and-attribute-preparation
