Publishing multiple versions of an app in the AppSource

Hello,
We have two versions of our app (Microsoft Excel addin) targeted for different clients. In the Microsoft guide it's said that publishing multiple versions of one app is not possible but probably it's ok to publish two apps instead.

We would like to make sure that if we publish two versions of our app as different apps it would be ok from viewpoint of Microsoft and the app will not be rejected due to similar functionality. We can't just update our app because there are breaking changes in the second version of the app and at the same time we need to maintain functionality for both clients.
