Can not log in because authenticator is not configured properly

My friend has locked himself out of being able to acess his 365 account. Somehow, he enabled 2FA with only the Authenticator App, but didn’t have it set up on his phone. Now he can’t get in at all because he can’t generate the codes or recieve them. He’s the only person in his company so there are no other admins. Help!

  • When you set up MFA you are required to set an alternate method via a phone number, he should be able to use that. Outside of that a call to Microsoft will let you unlock, most likely by adding proof of ownership in DNS
