Writing conditional formulas

I want to compare multiple items with multiple variable and rank them using a point system.  If I enter six or seven variables, I want to write a formula to give each of these a specific point value and then get a total point value at the end for each item, to determine which item has the highest point value for the total of these six or seven variables.

In other words, I will enter a value for item A in six or seven categories, and depending on the value in each of the categories, there would be a formula to establish points for each variable, giving you a total score in point value, helping to determine which item scored highest, based on these six or seven categories.  Since each item will have a different variable for each category, I need a point to be assigned for the ranges of categories, bringing the top rated item to the top in point score.

Perhaps you may share manually created sample file with desired result to explain logic more precisely; and mention on which Excel version/platform you are.

Yes, you are right, that would be helpful.  I am using version 2202, and I will attempt to attach a sample file for help.  I made it into a car comparison chart.

Thank you . Is it critical to have texts as in A7:A12? I'd suggest to use helper tables instead and lookup on them.
