It would make most sense if you can describe the particular task you're trying to achieve. in Excel you can import text in a word file by using Data -> Get data -> from Text

The word file is all text data. Name, address, phone number, date, no formulas. This is a list of approximately 1600 customers for our small business. I would like to copy and paste the word files into the excel file. Typing all the names into the excel file, is what I'm trying avoid.
It depends on the contents of the Word document.
A table in a Word document can be copied into an Excel worksheet, but it makes little sense to convert a novel written in Word to Excel...

- Mike_Vu_NgoCopper ContributorYou can either try:
1. Copy all words from Word to Excel by using simple Ctrl + C => Ctrl + V. Then use Excel Text to Column function and exploring from there. (Data -> Text to Column)
2. Make a table in Word, clean all your data in Word (each value to corresponding place), then copy whole table to Excel.
Feel free to ask if you're still stuck.
