Word to Excel
Can you convert word files to excel files? Yes or no. If yes how. Thanks

It depends on the contents of the Word document.
A table in a Word document can be copied into an Excel worksheet, but it makes little sense to convert a novel written in Word to Excel...

The word file is all text data. Name, address, phone number, date, no formulas. This is a list of approximately 1600 customers for our small business. I would like to copy and paste the word files into the excel file. Typing all the names into the excel file, is what I'm trying avoid.
- Mike_Vu_NgoNov 29, 2021Copper ContributorYou can either try:
1. Copy all words from Word to Excel by using simple Ctrl + C => Ctrl + V. Then use Excel Text to Column function and exploring from there. (Data -> Text to Column)
2. Make a table in Word, clean all your data in Word (each value to corresponding place), then copy whole table to Excel.
Feel free to ask if you're still stuck.- steve67fairlaneNov 30, 2021Copper ContributorThanks, I will try your idea. I will let you know the outcome.

Are the data in a table?
If not are name, address etc. separated by commas, or by tab characters, or by line breaks or paragraph marks?
