Hi everyone, I'm having an issue in Excel 365, which I've also noticed in Excel 2019 and Excel 2021. It turns out that when typing a formula or function, there are times when Excel doesn't calculate the result and simply displays the text as it is—for example, =SUM(A1:A10).
I've already checked that the cell format is set to Number/General and verified that the 'Show Formulas' option is turned off, but I still can't find the root of the problem.
It's worth mentioning that this issue is intermittent and only happens on rare occasions, both in existing and new workbooks, and it doesn't always happen with the same functions. Is this a known bug or some kind of anomaly in Excel?
I have just started having the same problem I have used basically the identical worksheet for over 4 years with no problems but now get a circular reference error notice I located the problem cell and deleted the formula then re-entered the formula manually (when i use the autosum function it shows the correct cells i am trying to add but then when i do a error check it shows a reference including that cell as well 🤪) but it comes up with a 0 value I did a forced calculation (F2 enter ) still no result added extra values into an unrelated cell and the formula for that cell worked ok.
tried opening the sheet in onedrive.live.com but didn't make any difference. Have checked to make sure calculation option is set to automatic. all the row cells that I am trying to sum are the resultant value of of the sum of their respective columns. so they are TRUE values.
Even AI said it couldn't help ??? 😣 🤫
