V Look Up - not for an exact match
I want to look up a name from one column of data in another but the names are not exactly the same.
For example one column has just one or two names and I want to see if they feature in a column of data with between 1-5 names. How can I do this please?

Please post of a sample data and show your desired output. Also, explain in brief your logic to gain that output. Attach or share a sample file via OneDrive, GoogleDrive or DropBox service.
You'll have to start here with a much clearer explanation -- perhaps attaching either your actual workbook (use Disney character names rather than the real ones) or an image of it. Your description doesn't make things very clear and clarity (aka precision) is helpful for Excel formulas and functions to work.
