TEXTAFTER Formula showing result in dialog box but shows formula in cell.

I am trying to copy a number at the end of a text entry to another cell. 

• BASIC LAP CHOLE INSTRUMENTS 2 - C1956

Using the TEXTAFTER formula, the dialog box returns the correct result

but the cell in the sheet just produces the formula.

I do not have show formulas engaged in any of the sheets for this workbook. Please, someone, anyone, stop the madness and help me.
