Tab jumps to wrong column

Hey, there!

I'm working with my boss on a solution with an Excel spreadsheet that's causing problems as many employees are working on it. To contain these problems, we now want to distribute the permissions according to who can edit what on the file. There should now be two areas: the office ladies (OL), who are allowed to do everything, and clerks (CL), who are only allowed to edit part of the table.

The CL may only work in columns L to P, starting with row 2. Row 1 is the fixed header, which only the OL should be able to edit. We've come a long way with sheet protection and special user permissions. But now we have the following problem: If the OL types in any cell of their OL area and then tabs to write in the next cell, the tab jumps straight to the CL area in column L in the same row.

I've tried this and that, even zero-width intermediate columns (ghost columns so to speak) between all the OL columns - with appropriately adjusted permissions - but the tab still jumps right into the CL area. Then I tried to allow OL ALL and on top of that I allowed the CL for columns L-P (excluding header) to edit. Now I can't tab at all.

Sorry if it's a bit incomprehensible in some places. I don't speak the best business English and I use Google Translate to help me 🙂

Don't know how the sheet protection is structured, but it could be related to the selection (tick) of the blocked cells on the sheet protection.

    First remove the existing protection;

then: TOOLS > PROTECTION > PROTECT SHEET.

There you can define what users can do with this worksheet.

    Select locked cells: no tick.

    Select unlocked cells: check mark.

Then you can jump from one unlocked cell to the next,

either with the Tab key (backward with Shift + Tab), or with the arrow keys.

An ENTER after an entry also leads to the next unprotected cell.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Hope I was able to help you with this info.
