Stop external file references in lookup formulas.

I'm unsure if this is an excel or SharePoint issue.

After uploading a spreadsheet to SharePoint, the lookup formula shows the formula's data source with an external link to the location of the in another workbook. (i.e 'https://domain-my.sharepoint.com/personal/USER/Documents/PATH/[PRIOREDITION.xlxs#NUMSTRING=1.0]TABNA

But i only want the formulas to reference the TabName, within the same workbook .xlsx file and not use  another file.  This has become very tricky to manage as several of us work on the reporting.  We have a number of spreadsheets which generate stats on a week to week or month to month basis, and each workbook is copied from the previous week or month.  With the external file reference being injected by (Excel, SharePoint, MS ??), the formulas are incorrectly generating the stats because they are then only using that same external file location over and over.  How do i stop the external references from being injected into my lookup formula and have it only use the tab within the same file?
