Sort Rows in one column to match the order of the rows in another column

I had a document with 5,500 rows of text that I needed to translated but it was completely disorganized. So I organized the rows alphabetically and proceeded to add the translation next to the text. But now I have to sort the rows back to the original order that I was given. Help?

  • Before sorting your data alphabetically, add a column with sequential number values.  After sorting alphabetically you can restore the original order by sorting the sequential number column.

let's hope that vcsg.90 doesn't forget your answer as quickly as he forgot mine.

Detlef, I didn't realise that the question I replied to was effectively a duplicate of the one you answered.
