Power query - Combine and Edit Window

Dear Community,

I'm using Excel 2016. When I tried to load data from folder, after giving the folder path, a window appears , where it list all the files, and we can choose to "combine and Edit, Load, Clean Data". This  following window is not appearing for me.

And it directly goes to the power query editor window where the files names shows as data.

if i click the double down arrow in the "content "column, it gives the following error.

DataFormat.Error: The input couldn't be recognized as a valid Excel document. Details: Binary

Could you please help how to get the window as in first picture.

  • Mynda Abiola1 SergeiBaklan After lot of research, I have FIXED the problem by replacing Addins folder from another system. My system has lesser files compared to another system. I copied the whole addins folder under C:\Program Files\office16 and replace my folder. and it works now. and Thank you for all of your inputs. However, I didn't understand how a installation have less files 🙂

I will suggest you place different excel workbooks inside another folder and try to import into the Power Query. The file shouldn't be in a zip folder and of course, you data in each of the Excel workbooks must be formatted in Excel Table.

Kindly let me know whether the above advice works fine or the initially error occur again.

    Cheers

  • Bruce0108 looks like a problem with the Excel files. Have you tested these files on a different PC or tested different files on the same PC?
