Parts and status inventory
I want to create a spreadsheet to keep control of a machine's parts which some have the same part number but different serial numbers and they are constantly swapped. (one part is installed then replaced, then re-installed). Basically I wish to control whether a part is installed or not and the dates it was installed/removed.

I formed a table with a row for each distinct S/N to show its status. On reflection I do not think that is necessarily what you are looking for.
Could you follow the guidelines in Welcome to your Excel discussion space! and provide at least:
- Excel version + OS
- A screenshot of what you have & what you expect. Idealy upload & share a representative workbook
