No stocks button/option

I have an active Microsoft 365 subscription through my Apple ID. But the Stocks button is completely missing from the Data tab.

This issue occurs in both the Excel for Mac app (version 16.105.3) and Excel Online.

My privacy settings for "Connected Experiences" are all enabled.

I've already run the Office License Removal Tool and logged in again, but to no avail.

Since the feature is also missing in the web version, it appears to be an issue with my Microsoft account configuration itself.

Microsoft support can't see my settings and refers me to this forum. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello VVermeulen,

If the Stocks data type is missing in both Excel for Mac and Excel Online, the issue is account-level provisioning rather than the Excel app or version. When a Microsoft 365 subscription is purchased through Apple ID, the account may not be fully provisioned for cloud-connected data types such as Stocks and Geography. In these cases, Excel appears activated but the Stocks button is removed from the Data tab, including in Excel Online.

To check, go to Subscriptions and verify whether the subscription shows “Microsoft 365 (Apple)” instead of Microsoft 365 Personal or Family. If it shows “Microsoft 365 (Apple),” Stocks may not be available. The resolution is to cancel the Apple-billed subscription, re-subscribe directly from Microsoft using Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, and then sign out and back into Excel on both desktop and web. The Stocks button will appear automatically once the account is re-provisioned.

Also ensure that Optional connected experiences are enabled at https://account.microsoft.com/privacy,  as the in-app Excel setting alone is not sufficient.

    The 3 Most Likely Causes…

    1. You’re signed in with the wrong Microsoft account
    2. Your Microsoft account country/region is unsupported
    3. You’re using a Work/Business tenant with data types disabled

What you can do for Right Now:

    1. First, check About Excel. Confirm the correct account is active in the app.
    2. Immediately, check your Microsoft Account's Country/Region at the link above. This is the fastest, most common fix for personal accounts.
    3. Finally, check portal.office.com for any signs of a work/school tenant.

Most Likely Order of Probability for Your Case: Given the issue is on both Mac and Web, and you have an Apple ID subscription, I'd rank them:

    1. #2 - Unsupported Country/Region (Most common for personal accounts with global mobility)
    2. #3 - Work/Business Tenant (If you've ever used this email for work/school)
    3. #1 - Wrong Account (Easiest to check and fix)

Start with Step 2 (Country/Region). If that's set to a major supported country and the feature is still missing, Step 3 (checking for a work tenant) becomes the overwhelming favorite.
