My 2016 excel moves sheets instead of copying the sheet.
I'm using 2016 Microsoft office. Each time I want to copy an excel sheet, it will move the sheet instead of copying it. How do I solve this problem, please. Pernille-Eskebo

- Click on the sheet tab that you want to copy.
- Right-click on the sheet tab to open the context menu.
- In the context menu, select "Move or Copy..."
- In the "Move or Copy" dialog box, choose the destination workbook from the "To book" dropdown (if copying to a different workbook).
- Check the box next to "Create a copy" at the bottom-left corner of the dialog box.
- Click "OK" to copy the sheet.

Thanks for your reply.
But I know of the process and judiciously follow it every time I want to copy a sheet in my excel but the sheet will be moved instead of copying.
Any further help please?

- Tony_AnekeJul 26, 2023Copper ContributorYes sir @Segei_Baklan.
Exactly this menu (dialog box) is what I mean.
- tanayprasadJul 26, 2023Brass ContributorCould you explain me what you mean by "Move"?
- Tony_AnekeJul 26, 2023Copper ContributorThank you @tanayprased for keeping in touch.
By "move" I mean that the selected sheet will move to (be erased from original position) a new destination, even when I only wanted to copy it (duplicate the sheet)- tanayprasadJul 27, 2023Brass Contributor
Well, that is very weird and confusing.
Can you please answer the following for me?
- Is your sheet password protected?
- Are there any linked elements in the sheet (eg. charts linked to any other sheet)
- have you tried to repair the office installation?
- tested on a new workbook?
clarity on these may help.
