i did it as you wrote - but unfortunally is´s not gonna work!
when i open an excel file in the PREVIEW MODE, i can see it in the correct presentation, see here:
but if i open the same excel file properly in excel. it´s the same problem.... :
i guess excel does not use the country standard of the system preferences... and in excel i can´t go to the german country options... see here...
StanfordWhite You need to go the the Advanced "Language § Region" setting in your Mac's System Preferences, as explained in my earlier post. Don't know the German, but look for the icon that looks like this:
I suspect that your setting is "-" as the thousands separator and "_" as the decimal like in the att picture below.
Excel will use these settings as the defaults.

StanfordWhite Did some experimenting and noticed that you must restart Excel after you changed the system settings. After restarting, formatting of numbers and currency should follow the system settings. Works for me. If it doesn't work for you, I'm lost. Sorry!

well this is also not working here at my MAC BOOK AIR.
i hope / cross fingers that maybe someone else got the key.
