Microsoft Office Personal, Excel in Windows 11, non -responsive cursor

I just purchased a new HP laptop because my old one had many problems with Excel. Now I find the same problems on my new laptop. The cursor is uncooperative and refuses to go where I want it to. When I first open the file it seems okay, but after a few minutes it begins not responding. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or possibly found a remedy for it?

It may have something to do with what is in your spreadsheet. Click the looking glass button on the home tab and choose "Selection pane". Does it show may objects there?

JKPieterse , Thank  you for trying to help me resolve the problem of the disobedient cursor!  I found nothing in the selection pane. I gave access to my laptop to Geek Squad, and they ran a full scan and whatever else might reveal the problem. I had frozen the first column in my spreadsheets so that I could scroll across while still seeing the frozen column.. Apparently, something went wrong with freezing, and that was causing the crazy cursor. The technician unfroze the columns and then reset them. It works fine now. I don't begin to understand what went wrong, but my Excel now works perfectly. Thank you again for your suggestion!
