Microsoft Excel Accessibility Loop

How can I disable the accessibility loop that causes the black outline around the formula bar whenever I press F2 to edit a cell?

  • Seems some workaround only:

    - Edit directly in cells: Go to File > Options > Advanced, and under Editing options, make sure "Allow editing directly in cells" is checked. This lets you avoid the formula bar altogether.
    - Use themes to reduce contrast: Try switching to a lighter Office theme via File > Options > General > Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office. A lighter theme may make the outline less noticeable.
    - Disable hardware graphics acceleration: In File > Options > Advanced, scroll to Display and check "Disable hardware graphics acceleration". This can sometimes resolve visual glitches.
    - Avoid F2: Instead of pressing F2, click directly into the cell or formula bar to edit. This bypasses the loop trigger.
