I can no longer insert files into MS EXCEL

Hello, I can no longer insert files into EXCEL. Every time I try, the program freezes and restarts but does not allow the desired insertion.

Thank you for your help.

  • Take a try on below:

    1. Check Excel Updates

Make sure you're running the latest version:

    • Open Excel → File → Account → Update Options → Update Now
    1. Disable Add-ins

Add-ins can cause freezing or crashes:

    • File → Options → Add-ins → Manage: COM Add-ins → Go
    • Uncheck all add-ins and restart Excel
    • Try inserting the file again
    1. Repair Office

    Run a quick repair:

    • Go to Control Panel → Programs → Microsoft 365 → Change → Quick Repair
    • If that doesn’t work, try Online Repair
    1. Try a Different Insertion Method

    If you're inserting:

    • Text or CSV files: Use Data → Get External Data → From Text/CSV
    • Other Excel files: Use Insert → Object → Create from File
    1. Check File Type and Size
    • Large or corrupted files may crash Excel
    • Try inserting a small, known-good file to test
    1. Run Excel in Safe Mode

    This disables extensions and customizations:

    • Press Win + R, type excel /safe, and hit Enter
    • Try inserting the file again
