How to retrieve values at intersections in Pivot Table

I have a pivot table which has expanding and contracting columns.  I need to be able to retrieve data from the intersection of the "row" and the "Grand Total" column.  If I use the Vlookup using the value that I would find in my fisrst column I cannot specify the column number because it is subject to adjustment when column values add or delete from the filter.  I had looked at possibly moving the "Grand Total" column to be immediately adjacent to the values in my rows, however I get a message that I cannot modify the pivot table.
