Getting #VALUE! error in Excel

Excel was working perfectly fine yesterday. However, when I logged into my PC this morning and opened the Excel sheet I was working on, I simply copied and pasted the formula from above. After adjusting the start and stop times I keep track of, I started getting this error.

As you can see the formula above works just fine (that was done yesterday)

But when I try adding the same today, I get this

Also.... if I click the 'X" to close the application down, the app freezes and the only way I can shut it down is by using the task manager

Can anyone help?

  • Thank you for sending the workbook by PM.

If you set the horizontal alignment of columns C and D to General, you'll see that almost all times are right-aligned except for C76. That value is left-aligned, indicating that Excel sees it as a text value.

Select C76, press F2 then Enter. The value should now be right-aligned and the formula in E76 works:

  • Could you attach a small sample workbook demonstrating the problem (without sensitive data), or if that is not possible, make it available through OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar?
