Formula to create MONTH is adjacent cell
Hi, I will be making DATE transaction entries when necessary during a month that I am tracking expenses. So say I enter a date in A2 of 8/23/2023, I would like a formula in B2 that would say August,...

You are on the right track. There are two obvious design alternatives:
#1 - Use the CHOOSE function:
=CHOOSE( MONTH(A2), "January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December" )#2 - Put the month names into a separate area of the worksheet (or on a separate worksheet), and use INDEX or another Excel lookup function:
=INDEX( $K$1:$K$12, MONTH(A2) )(where the month names are in chronological order in cells K1 through K12).
