Forum Discussion

That's interesting. I'm using MS Edge on Windows 11, and I get a gear menu icon in the top-right corner of my screen, which allows me to edit a discussion I started...
Glad to hear the edit worked for you with your reply, although it sounds like it might not be a reliable workaround 100% of the time as mentioned by SnowMan55. So disappointing to see what's become of this forum... it used to be my favorite one.
Thank you! I'm using Edge and Windows 11 as well and i didn't remember the gear menu item that is available for me as well.
I was only looking for the menu (three dots) as it's shown when replying to a discussion.
I've tried attaching a file several times to the discussion i've started but the attachment is removed unfortunately.
EDIT:
I was able to attach a small file ( ~11 KB) to my initial post of this discussion. However this isn't reliable since all other files were deleted. It seems that only small attachments aren't deleted no matter if i reply to a discussion or if i've started the discussion.
Another EDIT:
It seems that .xlsx files with up to 75 MB can be attached and aren't deleted and that all macro-enabled files .xlsm can't be attached from my PC.

I'm also on Windows 11 + Edge and seem to have observed the following:
When attaching a file (something we usually do as the last step when posting a reply) the attachment icon (& others) stay displayed until the next action
If the next action is a click on Reply/Update the attachment is randomly stripped out
On the other hand, if the next action is to click elsewhere on the post - making sure the attachment icon loses focus - it seems to work more reliably - to be confirmed, though...(attached 3 files to this reply...)
EDIT 1st attachment stripped out 😒- djclementsJan 19, 2026Silver Contributor
Lorenzo Testing this strategy by attaching my files first, then typing all of this. Also testing a potential workaround for macro-enabled workbooks by renaming the file with a .zip extension (to be renamed and removed after downloading). If it works, there will be no further edits to this reply (2 files attached).
EDIT: the 1st attachment (.xlsx) worked, but the 2nd attachment (.xlsm.zip) was purged. Looks like a promising strategy, but still subject to other "spam" filtering rules.
