Excel
Hello,
I am hoping that someone can please help me. I have created a chart with rows and columns as a form to keep track of my monthly budget. For some reason, I have been able to enter data into some of the cells but whenever I enter data into the cells in the 2nd column, it changes. It looks like maybe it is trying to calculate something. I would like to find the setting that allows me to just enter data into any cell without it calculating and/or changing what I have entered. Any ideas would be appreciated!
P.S. I used to use Microsoft Works which I loved and knew well, Excel is less user friendly and more difficult to figure out!

- davidclubbCopper ContributorYou will need to check the cells in question for formulas
- sylviehCopper Contributorit looks like it is entering a formula in place of what I am entering. For example, one cell says 5,44612E+15

- sylviehCopper ContributorHello, thanks for taking the time to help me. I'm not sure what you mean? I have been able to put text into all the columns cells except column B. Why and what do I do?

This is the formual bar for my cell G8, you can tell it is a formual because the info starts with an equals sign.
If you can't edit the cell check it's settings. If someone made the excell sheet for you, they may have protected the worksheet and locked the cells. Right Click on the cell, select Format, then select Protection. If the cell is Locked and the worksheet is password protected, then you need to unprotect the worksheet and change this setting to enable new data in the cell.
Can you send a screen shot of the formula bar for the specific cell?
