Excel Slicers on data model

Hi, looking for help. I have a couple of tables linked through a survey respondent ID in excel. I can't have the data in the same table because table 1 is the original table with one ID per row, and table 2 contains duplicate IDs which is needed for the purpose of the data.

I am creating a pivot chart using the date from table 1, and the a count of something from the other table (relationship is established). I am trying to connect my new chart to a slicer that already exists based on some data from table 1 (Age, ethnicity etc.) , but I can't find the chart in report connections so that it connects to the slicer. I'm wondering if there is a problem because of the data model, but I can't  understand why when I have established the relationship successfully between both tables.

Has anyone had experience with this that would be able to help/advise me please? Thank you 🙂

Slicer is based on the field from some table. If in both charts you use these field from the same table (not same field from different tables) charts shall be connected to the slicer.

Hi, thank you. Yes, the slicer is the same field. The slicer already exists for table 1. I want to use the same slicer for my second table/chart which is connected to the table where the field is, but the table does not show in the report connections list? Confused! Thank you

Aren't slicer connections limited to pivot tables? So if you have a pivot chart, the slicer should be connected to its underlying pivot table.

thank you yes good point, although still, the pivot table name that the pivot chart is connected to does not appear in the slicers 'report connections' list?

That means that the pivot table in question is either
        1. Not tied to the data model
        2. Not based on the same pivot cache as the other pivot table
