excel paste link - keep source formatting

Hi!

I would like to draw together data from different workbooks by using pasta special - paste link, in order to ensure that the information is automatically updated in the compilation document should changes occur in the different workbooks where data is drawn from. However, I would also like to keep the formatting from the source document.

When pasting through 'paste link' and then selecting the option 'keep source formatting', unfortunately the copied data does not synchronize/automatically update if I amend information.

Is there a way to use the paste link function while at the same time keeping source formatting?(sorry I am a beginner)

TIA!

    Hi Claire,

Try to reverse the steps you've done as follow:

First, paste it with the Keep Source Formatting option, and then paste it as links.

I would like to ask how we could keep the master data formatting and coloring after we update/create more data at master data file? ie if after copy paste link and keep formatting we write more data at master file i see data updated but if i color this line line at destination file is not colored also but only data

        Hi Nick PAPPAS,

The only way to do this is to copy the data and paste it  as Linked Picture as shown in the below screenshot:
