Excel office 2010

After inserting spinning buttons (non-macro type) from the developer page into a work sheet they work ok until I freeze panes or split the screen, at which point they stop stopping at all.

Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

    1. Recheck the button's linked cell: Ensure that each spinning button is correctly linked to the intended cell. Right-click on a button, select "Format Control," and verify the cell reference in the "Cell link" field. Make sure the linked cell is within the visible area of the worksheet, even after freezing panes or splitting the screen.

    2. Adjust the button's position: Move the spinning buttons away from the frozen panes or the split area of the screen. Sometimes, when buttons are placed too close to these areas, they may exhibit unexpected behavior. Try moving them to a different location within the worksheet.

    3. Use named ranges: Instead of linking the spinning buttons directly to cells, consider using named ranges. Define a named range that corresponds to the cell you want the button to control. Then, link the button to the named range rather than an individual cell. This can help avoid issues related to freezing panes or splitting the screen.

    4. Consider upgrading Excel: Excel 2010 is quite an old version, and there may be compatibility issues or bugs that could be causing the problem. Consider upgrading to a newer version of Excel, such as Office 2013, Office 2016, or Office 365, which may provide a more stable environment for your spinning buttons.

    5. Report the issue: If the problem persists and you believe it to be a software bug, you can report the issue to Microsoft support. They can provide further assistance or guidance on how to resolve the problem.

Remember to save your work and create a backup of your spreadsheet before making any changes or attempting an upgrade.
