excel help needed

I have created a drop down list and what I want is when someone selects an item from the list it would pull that as well as a description into another column.

    You need to have a table with all the drop down options and in the next cell the description you want. You may hide this rows to have a better graphics (or put this table in an hidden sheet/tab).

    Then, in the cell next to the dropdown menu, use the vertical lookup formula to look for the second value at a certain row (the one selected by the dropdown menu).
